Western Galilee College invites papers for:

November 2^nd 1917-November 29^th 1947 – the make-up and break-up of British colonialism in the Middle East:

An international Conference, Western Galilee College, 29-30 November 2017

The conference will focus on British Colonial policy in the Middle East starting with the Balfour Declaration (November 2^nd, 1917) until the UN decision to end the British Mandate on Palestine (November 29^th, 1947). The conference will take place in the Western Galilee College in Akko, Israel Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 of November 2017, celebrating a century of the Balfour Declaration and seven decades of the UN decision.

Proposals regarding all aspects of British Colonialism in the Middle East are to be sent to Dr. Yitzhak Ronen Roneni@wgalil.ac.il or Dr. Haim Sperber Haims@wgalil.ac.il until Wednesday March 1^st, 2017. Answers will be sent by April 20^th, 2017.

The Middle East Institute and the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies at Columbia University invite applications for an appointment as Arcapita Visiting Professor of Modern Arab Studies for a one-semester position for the fall 2017 or spring 2018 semester. The position may be filled at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor. We are interested in candidates whose field of research and teaching is in history, culture, or social sciences of the modern Arab world. The incumbent will be expected to teach two courses in this field, to participate in the activities of the Middle East Institute and to give a brown bag lecture and other such public lectures as may be appropriate. The position offers competitive remuneration.
