CIP Greetings to Ahl ul-Kitab on Celebration of Their Sacred Holidays

The Center for Islamic Pluralism extends greetings to the People of the Book on the observance of their sacred holidays, Pesach (Passover), beginning on March 29, and Easter, on April 4. We observe that this year Orthodox Christian Easter, for which we equally offer greetings, will be observed on the same date as that in the West.
The custom of Muslim greetings to Jews and Christians on their holidays is established throughout the history of Islam.
In addition, Passover and Easter both embody religious principles shared by Muslims with the Ahl ul-Kitab. Passover celebrates the liberation of the House of Israel from the tyranny of the pharaohs, under the leadership of Moses, recognized in Qur'an as Musa aleyhisalem, a hero of monotheism. Muslims, following the example of prophet Muhammad sallallahualeyhisalem, should ponder the lessons of the defeat of the pharaohs, with a devotion equal to that of Jews.
Easter may seen by Muslims as a commemoration of the miracles of Jesus (nabi Isa aleyhisalem.)
