THE DRAFT LAW ON TRADE UNION FREEDOMS
THE CENTER FOR TRADE UNION AND WORKERS SERVICES “CTUWS”, 8th February 2012: Mr. Abu el Ezz El Hareery Member of the People’s Assembly declared that he has submitted to the Assembly the Draft Law on Trade Union Freedoms.
It is expected during the next few days to submit the draft law to the Committee for Suggestions and Complaints for approval in principle. Subsequently, it will be submitted for discussion in a public session for the People’s Assembly before it is referred to specialized committees (the Manpower Committee and the Legislative Committee).
It is known that the Draft Law on Trade Union Freedoms was prepared by the Ministry of Manpower and was discussed in eight sessions by the three parties of labour (the workers, businessmen and the government). Then the draft was referred to the previous Cabinet which approved it and referred it to the Military Council which did not pay any attention to it.
