On July 31, 2009, three Americans, Sarah Shourd (32), Shane Bauer (28) and Joshua Fattal (28), were detained by Iranian border guards. Iran claims the three crossed into Iranian territory, but the three Americans claim they were kidnapped from within Iraq. Sarah Shourd was released by Iran on September 14, 2010, for humanitarian reasons, ultimately showing the Iranian commitment to a compassionate attitude. Reinforcing this last statement is the fact that the mothers of the three were granted visas and allowed visiting their children in May 2010. According to Western media, Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal are awaiting now trial on charges of espionage. It is important to emphasize that Iranian citizens illegally crossing into the US through the Mexican border, would have faced the American justice system. Iran strictly adheres here to standard legal procedures of the international community.

Recently, I published an article called WikiLeaks and the CIA War against Iran. Among other things, I claimed there that WikiLeaks actions while disclosing unconfirmed documents claiming the hikers were kidnapped from Iraq look intentional and backed by the American government in order to put pressure on Iran during the imminent trial of these persons.

Moreover, their being hikers is highly questionable. Simply, you don’t take vacations by traveling to the heart of a war zone. Moreover, hiking is a smart activity: you need to study the terrain and something about the local culture. The hikers cannot claim they didn’t know the dangers of the area before reaching it. So, we have well prepared persons traveling to a war zone and walking between two large armies which have a complex relation between them. Can this be innocent? If this is not innocent, then what were they doing there? Collecting information? Meeting informants? Creating networks? Flying kites? The Iranian version – that they are spies - is by far more credible.

It’s not only that. The whole second part of The Cross of Bethlehem describes techniques used by Western espionage agencies. Most of the informants sent by them towards me were disguised as tourists, travelers and trekkers. It is the perfect cover up, since anyone can use it and justifies plenty of approach techniques towards the victims of the immoral attack. This lengthy testimony is a collateral corroboration the American hikers are in fact just CIA Clowns.

”But Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal are just kids,” some may be thinking by now, in an attempt to justify their crimes. The fact is that both of them are grown ups. If they got immoral orders from their bosses – cowards sitting safely in Washington – it was their moral obligation to refuse them. I would like to see these crying crocodiles shedding the same compassionate tears for the Iraqi and Afghani citizens – including children and women – assassinated by their beloved American army. Until that happens, they have lost the moral right to comment on this.
