Mubarak to be re-examined for transfer to prison hospital

CAIRO, General prosecutor Abdel-Magid Mahmoud has instructed a team of Prominent cardiologists to re-examine Mubarak to ascertain his condition to determine whether he can be transferred to a prison hospital from the one where he has been held since his detention last month in Sharm el-sheikh, according to his Spokesman.

The spokesman added the minister of Interior sent medical reports on Mubarak’s condition and details of a surgery he underwent in Germany to General Prosecution.

Mubarak, 83, was ousted from power on February 11 by a popular uprising and has been under police custody in hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh after reportedly suffering a heart attack during questioning in April.

The assets of the former president and his two sons are being examined by Egypt's Illicit Gains Authority, while Mubarak himself is facing possible charges of ordering the shooting of anti-regime protesters in the popular uprising in January and February in which at least 846 people were killed.

Egyptian Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF), which has been governing Egypt since Mubarak's ouster, denied Wednesday that it intends to pardon the former president if he issues a public apology and hands over his fortune to the state.

Mubarak's wife, Suzanne, who was in the same hospital as her husband, saw her remand lifted Tuesday after she signed her assets over to the state.
