Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF), was founded in 2010 to continue fulfilling QF’s vision of unlocking human potential. HBKU is an emerging research University that acts as a catalyst for transformative change in Qatar and the region while having global impact.
The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) was established as a home for contemporary Islamic studies with the aim of becoming a hub for exceptional faculty and students who engage in meaningful dialogue about Islam and Muslims. It offers two dynamic graduate programs: an MA in Islamic studies and an MS in Islamic finance (with multiple specializations). Plans are also underway to offer PhD degrees in these two areas. The college houses several distinguished research centers and brings together scholars and thought leaders from around the world.
Positions 
CIS is inviting applications for open ranks in the field of Islamic studies, and is seeking to immediately hire a professor in Qur’anic studies.
The ideal candidate must:
  • Have a relevant PhD degree from a globally recognized and reputable university.
  • Possess a strong teaching and research record.
  • Possess a strong command of both the Arabic and English languages.
All candidates are expected to contribute, through teaching, research and service, to HBKU becoming a world-class research university. They are expected to collaborate with other faculty members and students to create a vibrant university community.
Remuneration

The Middle East Institute and the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies at Columbia University invite applications for an appointment as Arcapita Visiting Professor of Modern Arab Studies for a one-semester position for the fall 2017 or spring 2018 semester. The position may be filled at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor. We are interested in candidates whose field of research and teaching is in history, culture, or social sciences of the modern Arab world. The incumbent will be expected to teach two courses in this field, to participate in the activities of the Middle East Institute and to give a brown bag lecture and other such public lectures as may be appropriate. The position offers competitive remuneration.
