Unveiled: A Case for France's Burqa



Some wonder why
France, with its renowned liberal tradition, would move to prohibit women from
wearing full-face veils in public, as the French National Assembly and Senate
did this year. But au contraire, says French commentator Pascal
Bruckner, who argues that the new ban stands as a testament to the French
tradition of liberty, reaching all the way back to the Declaration of the Rights
of Man and the Republican Contract.
