Introduction:

1- We have received this email message from one of our fellow Quranists who is a young man who writes articles on our website. We quote parts of this message followed by our reply.

2- (... The Quran is in Arabic; how it is a Message sent by God to all human beings in all eras who have different tongues? ... Most of us are Muslims because we are born as such within an Arab environment; yet, what if Muhammad were born in India or China?! These two countries have the largest population on earth, past and present, would the Quran be then in Chinese or Indian languages? Would we, Arabs, believe in it, then, as God's Word?!... The Quran is in Arabic and Prophet Muhammad was an Arab; is it true that Prophet Muhammad had sent letters to neighboring countries around Arabia to urge their rulers to convert to Islam? Is this a Sunnite falsehood?  ... Why Arabs, past and present, are backward and the Sunnite-Shiite struggle seems endless and over trivial matters? Would any non-Arabs, when they see the obscurantist and backward Arabs societies, would be eager to read the Quran in translation, let alone convert to Islam?! Why has God chosen that His Last Message is revealed in Arabic? I am never gonna lose faith/belief in the Quran; but I pose such questions from my heart which is filled with faith; could you please answer me and put my heart at rest? ...).

OUR REPLY:

We thank the sender of this message and we implore God to bless him. We assert the following points.

Firstly:

1- The sender of this message asks about if Muhammad had sent letters to rulers of the countries around Arabia calling them to embrace Islam.

2- We assert these points below.

2/1: There is no proof that such letters sent to Byzantium, Persia, and Egypt are genuine; they might be forgeries written in later eras and ascribed to Muhammad; such an idea, however, reflects that the Arabs at the time believed in the universality of Islam.

2/2: The Arabs, led by Qorayish, had trade journeys and caravans between the Levant and Yemen, and thus, the Arab cultural influence moved, along with goods and merchandise, between Europe and India/China, and this is not to mention East of Africa and Abyssinia through the Red Sea. Thus, many people in Africa, Asia, and Europe knew about Islam and the Quran earlier and converted without the cursed Arab conquests that are violations of the Quran.

2/3: Despite the fact that the crimes called Arab conquests spread disbelief, corruption, and violence, we have to admit that they helped unwittingly spread the Quran within the Ancient world – between borders of China till the Pyrenees mountains. God preserves the Quranic text and undertakes the mission to clarifying its verses.

Secondly:

1- The sender of this message asks about the possibility if Arabs would believe in the Quran as God's Word if it were revealed in Indian/Chinese tongues and if Muhammad were born in India or China.

2- We assert these points below.

2/1: It is not important that Muhammad was an Arab man or a man from the Eskimo, the Indians, or the Chinese; rather, the real criterion is guidance in terms of faith and deeds. The nearest ones to Muhammad  in terms of era/location were his contemporaries; yet, most of them rejected Muhammad and disbelieved in the Quran; they have accused Muhammad of being a sorcerer, a madman, and a liar, though they knew about his honesty and upright nature. Once Muhammad died, Arabs betrayed him and disbelieved further in the Quran by committing the heinous crimes called the Arab conquests, led by the tribe of Muhammad, Qorayish, and they ascribed their sins to the name of Islam, and then, those belligerent, unjust, aggressive Arabs fell into the trap of civil wars because of their greed for wealth and power/rule and their lack of belief in God; this has been predicted in Meccan verses: "Say, "He is Able to send upon you an affliction, from above you, or from under your feet. Or He can divide you into factions, and make you taste the violence of one another. Note how We explain the revelations, so that they may understand." But your people rejected it, though it is the truth. Say, "I am not responsible for you." For every happening is a finality, and you will surely know." (6:65-67).

2/2: Of course, there were peaceful and weak Arabs (i.e., companions or contemporaries of Muhammad) who adhered to the religion of peace (i.e., peaceful behavior) and enjoyed their absolute religious freedom within the Yathreb city-state, as they kept their polytheistic ways of drinking wine and worshiping idols and mausoleums even shortly before Muhammad's death, as we infer from these Yathrebian verses that describe them: "O you who believe! Wine, gambling, idols, and mausoleums are abominations of Satan's doing. Avoid them, so that you may prosper. Satan wants to provoke strife and hatred among you through wine and gambling, and to prevent you from the remembrance of God, and from prayer. Will you not desist? Obey God and obey the messenger, and be cautious. If you turn away - know that the duty of Our messenger is clear communication." (5:90-92).

2/3: Other companions or contemporaries of Muhammad in Yathreb were the hypocrites who are mentioned in tens o Quranic verses and who harmed Muhammad with their words and conspiracies; those were also Arabs; they were not Indians, Chinese, or Mexicans; those hypocrites led the Arab conquests and are now deified by the Muhammadans; these unjust ones are mentioned in this Quranic verse: "Among the Desert-Arabs around you there are some hypocrites, and among the inhabitants of Yathreb too. They have become adamant in hypocrisy. You do not know them, but We know them. We will punish them twice; then they will be returned to a severe torment." (9:101).

2/4: Those sinners among companions or contemporaries of Muhammad chose misguidance as per their own free will and enjoyed the absolute freedom within religion and within peaceful political opposition (i.e., they never carried arms against the pious believers and Muhammad inside Yathreb). They had the chance to repent – if they had wanted to – during their lifetimes: "The hypocrites will be in the lowest level of the Fire, and you will find no helper for them. Except those who repent, and reform, and hold fast to God, and dedicate their religion to God alone. These are with the believers; and God will give the believers a great reward." (4:145-146).

2/5: Thus, it is of minor importance that Muhammad and the Quran emerged in the Middle-Ages or not or in Arabia or elsewhere; the main issue of vital importance is that each human being chooses freely to be (mis)guided/(mis)led and to (dis)obey and to (dis)believe. People who choose to be among hypocrites and disbelievers will see the outcome of their choice in the Hereafter; those who choose to be guided by the Reminder (i.e., God's Word) will also see the result/reward of their choice in the Hereafter; God's Will asserts the human will; the same applies to all people within the scriptures/messages sent by God to all prophets/messengers. "We never sent any messenger except in the language of his people, to make things clear for them. God leads astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. He is the Mighty, the Wise." (14:4); "This is a Reminder. So whoever wills, let him take a Path to his Lord." (73:19); ''This is a Reminder; so whoever wills, let him take a Path to his Lord. Yet you cannot will, unless God wills. God is Knowing and Wise. He admits into His mercy whomever He wills. But as for the unjust ones, He has prepared for them a painful torment." (76:29-31); "What of him whose evil deed was made attractive to him, and so he regards it as good? God leads astray whomever He wills, and He guides whomever He wills. Therefore, do not waste yourself sorrowing over them. God knows exactly what they do." (35:8).

2/6: Every human being is born with basic, inherent, built-in instinct about the existence of the Lord God the Creator without deifying, sanctifying, and worshiping mortals and things/items, regardless of the location in which one is born – East or West. When human beings are children and learn how to talk, they pose the great philosophical questions about how they are born and Who created them and the universe, etc. Yet, in most cases, the influences of one's environment and cultural background make grownups polytheistic ones who worship things and/or mortals and seek only transient possessions of this world and material comfort of the body. Within such a state, one's mind is still containing the persistent question of what the Truth is; in many cases, God inflicts calamities and times of adversity on people and they are forced to seek God's aid and help with devotion and monotheism, while forgetting their polytheistic notions. This means that one has the potential anytime anywhere (from the Arab or West countries to India, China, and Ecuador) to reach guidance and the Truth – even without any celestial messages – as one's reasonable mind would refuse to deify things/mortals/creatures and refuse to assume that the universe is created out of nothing; i.e., without a Creator.

Thirdly:

1- The sender of this message asks about the impression of non-Arabs who would (not) reject/accept Islam (i.e., the Quran as God's Word) when they see Shiite-Sunnite conflict and the backwardness and obscurantism of Arabs of today.

2- We assert these points below.

2/1: no person, dead or alive, represents or embodies Islam, even Muhammad; see our article titled "Muhammad Does not Embody Islam, Let Alone Muslims" (found in English on this link: http://www.ahl-alquran.com/English/show_article.php?main_id=16369). Muhammad was a mortal human being like the rest of all human beings; he has been commanded to follow the Quran; some Quranic verses contains reproach and rebuke addressed to him; other verses assert his being a mortal and his being judged on the Last Day like all human beings: "You will die, and they will die. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be quarrelling before your Lord." (39:30-31); "It is a message for you, and for your people; and you will be questioned." (43:44). Thus, Muhammad never embodied or represented Islam; the same applies to all other people, past and present, and to the Saudi royal family and any entity or institution.

2/2: Hence, we are to believe in the Quran and its contents descended and revealed to Muhammad and NOT in Muhammad or in any persons: "While those who believe, and work righteousness, and believe in what was sent down to Muhammad - and it is the Truth from their Lord - He remits their sins, and relieves their concerns." (47:2).

2/3: After the death of Muhammad, the messenger of God, the only Messenger we have now is the message: the Quran itself, preserved by God Himself till the end of days. Those who use their reasonable mind to seek guidance and the Truth must pose this question: could an Arab man in the 7th century A.D. during the obscurantist Dark Middle-Ages author the Quranic text with all its verses that contain scientific and historical facts and legislative justice?

2/4: After the death of Muhammad, the Quranic Message remains as a warner and as the source of mercy for the humankind: "We did not send you except as mercy to the humankind." (21:107); "Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His servant, to be a warning to humanity." (25:1).

2/5: God's Message must be in the language/tongue of the prophet/messenger and his people; this applies to all of God's prophets/messengers. This applies to the Quran. the Quran is the Last Message from God to humanity and it is a universal message to all people in all eras until the end of days. This miracle/sign named the Quran is suitable for all people – and this is clear in our modern era of the global village and telecommunication advancement – all people are unified within the language of digits and numbers; the numerological miracles of the Quranic text and its scientific indications still amaze many people now. More discoveries in these fields will be made in the future, especially in relation to the Hour and the end of the universe that draws nearer.

2/6: The Quran was descended/revealed to an Arab man within a location which is the middle of the world, and God Himself undertakes the mission of protecting and preserving the Quranic text. The Quran is translated now into several human languages – all people can have access to the Islamic facts inside the Quran – away from the disbelief and manipulation of interpreters and authors of the Muhammadans. Even if the translations of the Quranic text are not very good, they are the nearest possible rendering of the Quran into other languages, away from the twisted meanings offered by Sunnite, Sufi, and Shiite authors.

2/7: Hence, guidance is made available for all people, regardless of their races, colors, sexes, cultural backgrounds, tongues, locations, and eras. There are levels of deeper pondering of Quran for those deep-rooted in the Quranic knowledge; yet, the Quran is made easy to understand to anyone who reads it and seek guidance. The essence of guidance is piety (see our article in English titled "Piety Is the Essence of Islam" found on this link: http://www.ahl-alquran.com/English/show_article.php?main_id=14282). Piety means to be God-fearing person with alert conscience and never seeking to commit injustices against anyone nor against God by polytheism. Thus, those who adhere to Islam; i.e., to submit to God within sincere, monotheistic faith, are upright persons with high moralistic levels and never deify things/mortals at all beside Almighty God the Creator – as per inherent instinct of monotheism inscribed inside the human soul. Those persons are Muslims even if they never heard about the Quran. God has commanded Muhammad to announce the following: "Say, "I am only a human being like you, being inspired that your Lord is One God. Whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him work righteousness, and never associate anyone with the worship of his Lord."" (18:110). Yet, most of those Arabs who claim to be Quran-believing persons willingly worship things/items and mortals/mausoleums and disregard the verse 18:110 and violate the Quranic teachings!

2/8: God has certainly sent prophets/messengers to all areas and regions on earth – the two American continents, Japan, China, India, and Africa: "We sent you with the truth; a bearer of good news, and a warner. There is no community but a warner has passed through it." (35:24); ''Some messengers We have already told you about, while some messengers We have not told you about..." (4:164).

2/9: Even if we suppose that people in the Amazon, African Sahara, African jungles, Congo, Mozambique, Chile, Siberia, etc. never heard of the Quran, God will not torment them as we infer from this verse: "...nor do We ever torment until We have sent a messenger." (17:15).

Lastly:

1- The most disbelieving persons who reject the Quran are the Muhammadans who overtly and ostentatiously claim they believe in it.

2- Instead of getting busy thinking of guiding the Brazilians, Japanese, Chinese, Indians, etc., we, Quranists, must focus on guiding the Muhammadans: Egyptians, Arabs, Pakistanis, Afghanis, Turkish, Iranians, Amazigh, Kurds, and Somalis.

3- For three decades (since 1987) until now, we have preached and warned the Muhammadans using the Quran only, and we find no response from them except their rejection of the Quran!
