Thank you -- Artice "Free the Holy Mosque
Dear Dr. Mansour:
Thank you so very much. I just finished reading your article "Free the Holy Mosque" from the International Quranic Center -- I am not a Muslim although I had spent a number of years studying with a Sufi order.
I was touched by the idea that people of good spirit could visit the Holy Kaaba -- how wonderful. I've spent much time visiting many houses of worship trying to build understanding, Friendship & respect amongst the communities. How wonderful to think of
being able to visit Mecca. Recently I attended a Jewish synagogue that hosted a "break the fast" for Ramadan in Washington, D.C. It was very much in a spirit of Peace and welcoming. Muslims were invited to do their evening prayers on the platform at the front of the temple where the Torah is kept and sanctified. It reminds me of the Old Testament scripture from Isaiah: 'My house will be a house of prayer for all people' -Isaiah 56:7.
I also appreciated your analysis of Wahhabism: "founded on strictness and complication, contrary to Islam founded on facilitation, easiness, moderation and alleviation of constrictions, and because Salafi Wahhabism sanctifies “what our forefathers were doing” and what the ancestors agreed upon."
Thank you; Blessing & Peace,
Kenneth (Zamin) Danty, M.Ed
