The D.A. Questions Reda's Beliefs

Three days ago, the District attorney General started the first investigations session with Reda Abdelrahman, who has been detained for more than a month because of his affiliation with The Quranists. He was accused of Contempt of the Islamic Religion.
The D. A. decided to “return the suspect to prison” without scheduling any other investigation session, but the Supreme State Security Court scheduled a hearing on December the 14th to look into the Reda’s arrest.
Adel Ramadan, the executive of legal affairs at the Egyptian Initiative for Human Rights and Reda’s attorney, described the session as “a search in the suspect’s beliefs,” elaborating that the questions were concerning Reda’s prayers and its’ timings, whether Reda believes in Hadtith, his relation with Dr. Mansour (The Quranist’s leader) and the degree thereof.
Ramadan added that lawers from different human right organizations, including Hisham Mubarak, The Arabic Network of Human Rights Information, and the Andalus Center for Tolerance Studies, were present during the investigations. They argued the unconstitutionality of “Clause Ninety Eight” concerning Contempt of Religion “for its ambiguity and contradiction with the Constitution,” considering that such Clause “force individuals to believe in certain religions”.
The lawyers finally added that “the investigations were invalid for the D.A has no authority to release the suspect,” because there is an order to arrest Reda that the D.A. can not override.
