The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies (www.potomacinstitute.org) is pleased to present the initial seminar in a series that will address science, technology, and policy issues relative to cyber security. The initial seminar, “Cyber Challenge: Informing the Debate” will be held January 26th from 11:30 am – 2 pm at the Potomac Institute, 901 N. Stuart Street, Arlington, VA.
The greatest challenge when addressing any issue is to ensure the problem is properly defined. In the existing cyber debate, there is much discussion relative to offense, defense, and tactics. While these issues are certainly relevant, it is critical to begin by defining the challenge, and this initial seminar will attempt to do so. By examining the problem, looking at existing policies (and gaps) and offering a historic review of how the United States addressed a similar “Gordian Knot” policy challenge in the post-WWII era, the issue of nuclear weapons, we will set the stage for future seminars that will then address key cyber issues in the science and technology arena.
Speakers include:
LtGen Robert Schmidle, Deputy Commander, US Cyber Command
A panel discussion and Q&A session will follow the presentations.
