Is It Time to Assassinate Reda?

A Forum at the Journalist' Syndicate Pushes Reda to Farag Fouda's Destiny

On October 5^th 2004, Ibn Khalodun Center held a conference called "Islam and Reform," where I was a main speaker calling for a Quraan-based revision of the Turath (tradition).  The conference was set to chaos by State Security police, Alazhar's Sheikhs, and other Extremists Groups. Two weeks later, the center held a press conference where Dr. Saad Eldin Ibrahim, Gamal Albana, and I were speakers.

As a result, Alazhar's big Sheikhs (Ahmed Altaib- ALazhar's Dean, Mohamed Ashour- Alazhar's Deputy, Ahmed Omar Hashem- Former Alazhar Dean, and others), under the leadership of Tantawi, accused us of being heretics and infidels. They waged a campaign in all official Saudi and Egyptian Media to fill the people with hate and encourage aggressions againsan Media to fill the people with hate and encourage aggressions against us. Dr. Saad's reaction was to write an article titled "Sheikh ALazhar's fatwas Pushes Us Closer to Farag Foudah's Destiny." In a forum on December 24^th, 2008, held by the Journalist' Syndicate, many Sheikhs (Safwat Hegazy, Salem Abdelgalil, and Sabri Abdleraouf) issued fatwas that he/she whoever denies the Sunna is an infidel and crazy. And according to the their view of Sunna, an infidel is to be killed!

Déjà vu! Same Sheiks and their ignorant followers backed by the same Wahabi finances are pushing the Quranists to Dr. Farag Fouda's destiny again. The main problem is that this is an easier job since Reda Abdelrahman, the Quranist detainee, is inside a prison full of extremists and radicals who love to kill an infidel to get closer to their heaven.

I here hold those who issued the fatwa, Safwat Hegazy, Salem Abdelgalil, and Sabri Abdleraouf, as well as the Minister of Interior, the Tora Prison Warden, the state security officer at the prison, and the Syndicate Chief- Makram Mohamed Ahmed, fully responsible for Reda Abdelrahman's life and safety.

We as Reda's family will pursue these individual legally in case Reda faces any physical consequences of these irresponsible fatwas, and terror and extreme-culture spreading forums.  I also ask the Journalists' Syndicate to clearly state their position on what was said in the forum towards the Quranists and their position on the speakers' calls to assassinate the Quranists
