Saad Eddin Ibrahim: MB is most organized, not most popular

CAIRO: Chairman of the Ibn Khaldun Center for Democratic Studies, Dr. Saad al-Din Ibrahim said there is fear of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) dominating all political dialogues concerning Egypt's future.

Ibrahim pointed out the Muslim Brotherhood are the most powerful and the most organized political force entering the next election, but they are not the most popular.

“I suffered a lot from the process exclusion at the hands of the former regime. I am against the exclusion of any political entity whatever their ideology is, at the end of the day it is the right of the voter to choose who sees fit to represent him,” Saad al-Din said during a symposium on ‘Drafting the Law of the People's Assembly’ held by the Egyptian Democratic Institute on Monday evening.

Al-Din thinks new parties that emerged after the January 25 Revolution should enter into blocks and coalitions to stand against the MB, stressing coalitions are strong enough to stand before the strength and organization of the MB. Al-Din said the new parties were “oppressed politically for so such a long time and should be allowed to take part in the political process."
