A full time temporary faculty: Middle Eastern History and Islam, California State University

The Department of History and the Department of Religious Studies at
California State University, Chico seek to hire a full time temporary
faculty member with expertise in Middle Eastern History and Islam for the
academic year 2009-2010. The successful applicant should be prepared to
teach a 100 student survey course in Middle Eastern History and a 100


student introduction to Islam each semester, together with a smaller course
in either History or Religious Studies. Period or area of specialization is
open. A demonstrated commitment to excellent teaching and evidence of
active scholarship are required. Ph.D. in hand is preferred but ABDs will
also be considered. Application review will begin 1 July and continue until
position is filled. The Department will conduct initial interviews via video
conference or telephone. Send letter of application discussing teaching
interests and summarizing previous research and teaching, along with a
curriculum vitae, transcripts of graduate work, teaching evaluations or

The Middle East Institute and the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies at Columbia University invite applications for an appointment as Arcapita Visiting Professor of Modern Arab Studies for a one-semester position for the fall 2017 or spring 2018 semester. The position may be filled at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor. We are interested in candidates whose field of research and teaching is in history, culture, or social sciences of the modern Arab world. The incumbent will be expected to teach two courses in this field, to participate in the activities of the Middle East Institute and to give a brown bag lecture and other such public lectures as may be appropriate. The position offers competitive remuneration.
