Sources close to Aida Seoudi, the supervisor general of the “Radio Hits” channel, said she was summoned by the Radio and Television Union to terminate her contract due to comments she made, criticizing the acquittal of Mubarak and all the other defendants on charges of killing of protesters in the 25 January revolution.

“The killing of demonstrators did not take place in another country. It happened here before our eyes. We saw it on television. We saw the cars that ran over them. We saw the cartridges that shot them. These were our friends, not people we heard of,” Seoudi said on her program. “People have the right to rejoice for the acquittal, but I have the right to grieve for the people who died before my eyes, with the killers getting away with it.”

“If demonstrations are forbidden, the demonstrations of those who danced in joy for the verdict should also be forbidden,” she added.

“How come then is there a constitution that we said yes to and that talks about the January revolution? How come the president paid compensations for the families of the martyrs when those very martyrs are now called traitors? Who killed them?” she asked.

The sources added that Mohamed Abdallah, the president of Sono Cairo, requested to watch the program in which Seoudi allegedly commented on the court ruling.

Seoudi has been working for “Radio Hits” since 2010. Although her employment documents were never completed, the channel renewed her contract and appointed her as supervisor general in 2013.

Seoudi declined to comment on the incident.
