This is my speech in East England youth conference which was from 2 July until 3 in Colchester

HELLO EVERYBODY

My name is SALAH ELNAGAR, I am Egyptian Writer, and I have been in the UK nine months.

First I would like to thank all the people who invited me to this conference, and thank the people who with us now in this conference

I would like to take two points in this conference
Number one is the youth who are great treasure and power in a society. In my opinion the youth is greatest power in any society

Youth are often considered to represent the future as they bring new idea and energy to add to the pool of knowledge that currently exists, they can bring enthusiasm and vitality which can lead to new discoveries and developments that can benefit society or even the world at large. Although not the only drivers of social change, youth are seen to be one the key drivers engendering change

Youth are the backbone to the nation, they can change the future of the society with their wellbeing and courageous behaviour and they are here to show us that with we have not been willing to look at within ourselves

A silly society is a youth obsessed society: to the Chinese who appreciate the value of experience, the greater the ratio in a team of grey hairs and no hairs to black hairs, the faster and better a task will be completed

Although I was very happy because I was at this conference, but at the same moment I am sad because the youth in my country are wasted. I never listened to conferences to the youth in my country. The government don't help our youth and don't give them the support and hospitality they need. Many smart youth of Egypt left my country and went to other countries because they couldn't find any help there. The government think that because the population of my country is too high, but I would like to answer this dilemma by a wonderful Chinese example

A group of Chinese people went to a Chinese philosopher and asked him, “How" can we give enough food to 1 billion people?” He smiled and replied, “Why ask me this question, you should ask me how we can use 1 billion minds and 2 billion hands?”

I studied Physics and maths. I have many examples about the scientists who changed the world to the best by his or her idea and genius when they were a youth: Newton discovered gravity when he was 24 years old. Einstein discovered the theory of relativity when he was 26 years old. And the majority of people who work in NASA agency have an average age of 25-27.

The meaning of this is that the youth are a great power and energy. If we can discover them and give them the care and attention and hospitality like when we discover a key of a great treasure chest.

Secondly I would like to speak to you about the Baha’i group. It’s a big honour to meet them at this conference. I never read about them in my country, just only I read about them in magazines as a small religious group. They are persecuted just like Quranists; which is my belief, which was established by my Uncle Ahmed subhy Mansour (is an Egyptian American activist, whose website describes him as an Islamic scholar with expertise in Islamic historyculturetheology, and politics)

This is a good chance to read about them and it’s a great honour that I have friends amongst them. I believe that everyone should have true freedom no matter what he or she believes. I believe that religions true meaning is morality, truthfulness, science, work, reform, justice, mercy, faithfulness, human rights, generosity and assistance. We have many verses in the Quran that advice to make contact with people who have different culture and different religions because it’s very useful in our lives

Humans are social beings, and contact with others is one of the most important bases of human life. The acquisition of knowledge, experience and culture only occurs by contact with one another and interaction between communities. This principle is advocated by civil and religions structures alike.

ٰ ۚ ۚ (13) ) The God tell us in the verses of Quran

The Lord of all beings decided that we are all equal brothers and sisters, the issue of but one father and one mother despite our differences; and the Lord has made us differ in colours and languages in order to learn about each other, not to fight and destroy each other. The interface of cultures is what drives us onwards, towards the horizons of the mind, and affirms our humility.

‘Some of us rank themselves above others,’ teaches the Qur’an, ‘based on colour, wealth, power and social class, but the true classification that God uses is one’s righteousness.’ The most honoured in the eyes of the Lord are those who are most righteous. Righteousness is the true belief in the uniqueness of the creator; and also a consistency in doing good deeds that benefit society. To ensure that no one claims that they are more righteous than others and uses this as a means of making money and power, the Lord confirms in this verse that He is the only one who will decide who are those righteous according to their deeds and beliefs. This will only happen on the Day of Judgment, but until that day comes, let’s live in tolerance and love.

Best regards,
Salah Elnagar
